Even though I’m currently a college student who is living in a temporary location with a limited home decor budget, that does not stop me from trying to make the most out of my small living space. If you remove all of my bedroom furniture and my personal belongings, I’m essentially living in a stark white, boxed room that has a resemblance to the inside of a clean Chinese takeout box (except with a window and hardwood floor). That being said, I love where I live and I’m not complaining, but I’m always looking for inspiration on how I can maximize my space, organize all my piles of junk, and add some color into the mix.
Last night I was on Instagram and I came across an account called @insideoutmag on the popular page. From what I’ve searched up on Google, Inside Out Magazine is an Australian publication that covers home decor, gardening, cooking, shopping, and everything and anything else that you could possibly think of. After I publish this post, I’m definitely going to explore their website further, but for now I want to comment on two pictures that struck my interest on their Instagram account.
Their Instagram account features professional pictures of gorgeous living spaces that cater towards every style and can give anyone (no matter the budget) decoration and organization tips and inspiration. Some of the pictures seem easy enough to recreate and I’ve pulled two of them off of their Instagram account to write about.
In the first picture, I’m loving the geometric bed spread, the colorful mismatched pillow cases and accent pillows, the alien green lamp, and the tribal print rug (I guess that means that I pretty much love everything about this picture). Even though the walls, the bed and the side table are plain, white and basic, the room has a lively vibe because of all the different colors. I really like this idea because I actually have no idea if I’m allowed to paint the walls in my room and I want to liven the place up. I’m pretty sure that I can find pieces similar to the ones in the picture at Target or HomeSense for a discounted price, so I will report back in another post if and when I do.
In this second picture, I’m loving the accent pillows, the colorful photo collages, and the Pantone-esque throw blanket (again, I love everything about this picture). I do have a photo collage that I haphazardly threw up on my wall (just like every other college student), but I want to organize it so that it resembles a large canvas like the ones above. Maybe I will make several smaller ones and have them framed in matching colored frames to give it a clean and professional feel. Now there’s an idea!
So there you have my potential plans for my upcoming room redecoration. I hope you don’t mind that I’m word-vomiting more than I’m providing helpful advice, but I love writing these types of posts because I get to share and organize my thoughts and ideas and possibly gain some feedback and perhaps even more inspiration.
